Planning your .NET Profit

By J. Carlton Collins, CPA

Planning your .NET Profit - David Harris, EC Internet

David Harris opened his speech by describing some of the qualifications that a business would want to consider before beginning a B2B Web Store project.  Motivation for the Web Store may include an owner’s request to do so, some key customers requesting an internet store or a competitor may have opened a web store.

The client must have enough funds to covert the expense of a web store.  David presented the group with a sample of an estimated cost analysis for this project:

EC Gateway Application……………………....$2,895

Web Pro Pack Application……………………..$6,495

Dedicated PC and Internet Connection………...$1,000

Minor Modifications and Training……………..$1,500

Monthly Hosting…………………………………$150

Reseller Project Management & Testing…….25 hours

Project Planning

Client deliverables deadlines would need to be established so that development would not be delayed, and internet access for data transfer is necessary.   The three key issues that David emphasized were:

  1. Creating a storyboard.
  2. Cleanup accounting data
  3. Beta testing.

Custom .NET Web Store

The motivation to implement a custom web store using .NET technology, David explained, was determined by the client’s requests, the client places a priority on new technology, client wants the best that money can buy, or simply if you have the interest in learning .NET.

David offered another sample cost analysis for .NET implementation:

EC Gateway Application……………………................$2,895

Web Pro Pack .NET Application……………………....$5,495

Dedicated PC and Internet Connection………………...$1,000

Design Modifications and Training………………….....$5,500

Monthly Hosting…………………………………$150-$2,000

Reseller Project Management & Testing……………..40 hours

To plan for a .NET Web Store, first a plan for training procedures would need to be implemented.  As required for the previous B2B Store, client deliverable deadlines would need to be established as well as internet access for data transfer.  The three key issues that were emphasized in this case were:

  1. Creating a storyboard.
  2. Cleanup accounting data.
  3. Deployment and version control.
