ACCPAC Pro Series Look & Feel

This document addresses the cosmetic appearance of ACCPAC Pro only. To help you understand how to evaluate an accounting software product's Look & Feel, please refer to this document: http://www.accountingsoftwareadvisor.com/topics/lookfeel.htm. (We recommend that you read this document first, before proceeding below.)

The ACCPAC Pro screen above is taken from the Inventory Control module and is used to add an inventory item.

Likes: This form has a clean layout and it is obvious which fields require data entry.  This form makes a good use of folder tabs for entering additional information. ACCPAC Pro Series fills the screen with a desktop in the background which helps a user stay focused.  The data entry form can be sized as shown or maximized to fill the desktop. The icons on the left are clear and easy to understand - the tool bar can be repositioned on the desktop for each user. The buttons on the second row of the desktop are menu items which can be added as favorites for each user.

Dislikes: The fonts in the data entry fields make this screen look dated.  A crisper, fresher font would be more pleasing. VCR icons rather than buttons would save some screen real estate for other uses. The product line entry fields and alternate item fields should all be the same size to make the form more appealing. More information could be provided on the status bar in the bottom right hand corner. And while we're talking about look and feel, would it kill these software vendors to use anything other than grey?
