Gene Marks owns and operates The Marks Group PC, a highly successful ten-person consultancy firm that sells and services popular software applications to small and medium sized businesses.  The Marks Group PC, launched in 1994, has grown to serve over 200 companies and 750 individuals throughout the country. The Marks Group PC serves companies with less than five-hundred employees.  As a result, Gene’s experience with small businesses and their owners is extensive. 

Prior to starting the Marks Group PC, Gene spent nine years in the entrepreneurial services arm of the international consulting firm KPMG in Philadelphia where he was a Senior Manager.  During this tenure, Gene supervised multiple projects and worked with many small companies throughout the U.S. and Europe. Gene was also an award winning national instructor for the firm, and presented to both employees and clients across the U.S. in over 50 occasions.

Gene has taught financial and other small business related topics at Penn State University since 1992 to more than 500 individuals in classroom settings throughout the state of Pennsylvania. After leaving KPMG, Gene spent two years as a corporate controller for a publicly held bio-pharmaceutical firm where he oversaw all financial operations for the 30 person company.

Gene has spoken nationally at seminars and conferences for KPMG, Microsoft, Advanced Software Corporation, FrontRange Solutions and various industry trade groups on various small and medium sized business related topics and has authored articles for numerous professional publications.  Recently, Gene and his company were featured in Sm@rtPartner and Accounting Technology Magazines.  He currently serves on the advisory committees of two partner organizations (FrontRange Solutions, Inc. and Advanced Software Development Corporation Inc.) and his company has won sales and technical awards from these organizations and Microsoft Corporation.

A Certified Public Accountant, Gene lives outside of Philadelphia, PA with his wife and three children.
