Stampede Conference

Mark Jensen, Group Product Manager, Medium Enterprise

Mark's job is to make sure the developers are working on the right things. He has to be on the lookout for the "next big thing." (Imagine the pressure!)  He described the potential of the Microsoft Business Framework - which will provide base business components for business applications using C# (C sharp for the non-musical) and Visual Studio .NET tools.

Other Messages:

  • .NET opportunity is great for the mid-market - connection anytime to any device is the compelling story.
  • A mid-market study of business applications shows that in order to get to greater than 60% market share, you must add up applications provided by more than 100 companies.  This means that there is no market leader.  There is an opportunity for the right application (or the right company if they have enough applications...)
  • Three-tier strategy
    • Invest in/Enhance existing products
    • Build surrounding applications - like Microsoft CRM (.net solution)
    • Build new applications from the ground up
