Break out Session on Manufacturing

On Saturday May 19th, I attended the Manufacturing Break Out session. The session was conducted by Kip Nicholson (Developer) and Mary Hall (Manufacturing Support). The session was very informative.

Exact's goal is to be the "Mid-Market Feature Set Leader" so Kip and Mary were happy to demonstrate some of the features:

  • Bill of Resources - has a new look and includes routings and engineering changes

  • Production Order Processing, Shop Floor and Order Entry are all integrated

  • Shop Calendar has new setup options

  • New Integration . ForecastPro can now be launched from master scheduling.  The application brings in the Order Entry history table and sends forecasts back to Master Scheduling.

  • Revision number field has been added to track engineering changes - the field is not validated.

  • There is a new graphical view of routings

  • Bill of Materials can process engineering changes, but there can be only one pending change at a time

  • Order Entry transactions can be linked to the creation of a work order on the shop floor.  The work order can also be entered manually from the Product Order Processing screens.

  • Manufacturing employees are added to  HR first, then additional details are added in the Manufacturing application.

  • In addition, they will be rolling out the Preactor “Module” which will be an add-on enhancement to the Capacity Requirements Planning Module specifically for constraint-based scheduling and modeling. The target market for this enhancement is the job shop environment, but it will also provide value for any capacity constrained manufacturer.
