MAS 90’s Underlying Technology

To help you better understand the underlying technology of an accounting software package, I highly recommend that you first read the following articles:

Programming Languages

Programming Language - MAS 90 was originally developed in BBX/2 and BBX/4 code, but today much of the current product has been developed in C++, Visual Basic, and Best Visual Tools (ProvideX).

Database - MAS 90 runs on an a proprietary ISAM database. MAS 200 runs on your choice of either Microsoft SQL Server or a b-tree file system database.

Source Code - MAS 90's Source code is available only to Master Developers, of which there are many. For example, John Macabe (http://www.macabe.com/default.asp ) has developed more than 1,500 MAS 90 enhancements. The process of becoming an authorized Master Developer is fairly expensive and is not generally available to end users.

Testing - I do not yet have details of Best Software's testing procedures. However I can tell you that their product has been fairly solid for many years.
