Meetings

a. Avoid them if possible – often meetings involve reading reports to one another.

b. Start by stating objectives and ending time. Assign time limits to topics.

c. If the meeting will be brief conduct it standing up. It will be less formal and go faster.

d. Only invite the necessary people attend, the less people the faster the meeting goes.

e. Prior to any meeting provide written agendas. Note if someone is responsible for bringing something to the meeting.

f. Designate a timekeeper to keep you on track. Rotate this duty from meeting to meeting.

g. Make someone responsible for taking notes.

h. Stand and stretch every 30 minutes.

i. Request that everyone to turn off their cell phones and turn pagers to vibrate.

j. Add a question and answer period at the end of the meeting. Let people know it is coming so they will save all their questions until then. Most likely their questions will be answered sometime during the remainder of the meeting.
