Core Product Changes

Core Product Changes

SouthWare has been revising their system and has incorporated some major changes in their products:

Stock Cross-Reference Numbers

SouthWare’s programs now accommodate large cross-reference numbers.  While internal stock numbers can be up to 15 characters, cross-reference stock numbers can now be up to 30 characters in length.  The new stock cross-reference number lengths can be used for manufacturer, vendor, or customer part numbers.  A horizontal scroll bar has been add to the entry fields on all platforms for easy viewing of these larger fields.

Tacking Number Expansion

Tracking Numbers now can be up to 30 characters in length which allow for longer serial and ID number assigned by manufacturers.

Bar Code Cross-Reference Numbers

Users can define the categories for their bar code types in the I/S Control Record.  Codes are stored in a cross-reference file and are easy to set up and access from the Stock Maintenance program.

Override Categories

SouthWare has integrated multiple non-validating categories for overriding prices, taxes, and commissions in the stock records as well as the customer records.  The override can only be used by the override records to ensure the operation is performed correctly.  This feature is optional during setup and can be enabled after setup.

Tracking File Ledger

The concept behind this ledger is similar to the stock ledger.  It logs the same activity for tracking numbers that the stocking ledger, but also shows the rental and contract billings for the tracking numbers.  The ledger is accessible from stock maintenance, stock inquiry, or from tracking maintenance.  SouthWare associates have indicated that Revision 9 will have capabilities to create ledger records from the available history of records.
