When it comes to evaluating accounting software, sometimes I like to start with a quick look at some representative screens. Unfortunately, too often a quick glimpse of these screens usually means that you have to get a reseller involved, they give you the third degree, they eat hours of your time, and eventually you are able to get that sneak peak you have been waiting for. By then, you are beaten down and made weary by the process. Maybe you know what I am talking about. To help you out, I've provided some representative screens below. Enjoy.   

SouthWare has retained their older screen designs in order to provide compatibility with it's customers legacy hardware and green screen monitors. In March 2003, SouthWare released SouthWare Excellence Series 9.0 which features new and improved screens. Here are a few representative screens for SouthWare Excellence Series, version 9.0.

SouthWare Excellence Series provides a Messaging System – This was a great feature in the 80’s and other top products such as ACCPAC ProSeries feature this functionality. With the advent of e-mail, you would think that this would no longer be necessary – however SouthWare Excellence Series integrates this system with it’s Business Alerts technology – making it a critical tool – even today.

Smart Worksheet is used to determine cash flow and requirements.  You can enter projected amounts and then have the software recalculate to show you what the projected values would be.

Cash flow management can be used along with the TaskWise alert system to instigate the action reminders and assign collections to the appropriate department.  The action reminders will call attention to tasks that need immediate attention. 
 

Accounts Payable defaults to today’s date, and includes many fields that have wizards to look up account information. 

Accounts Payable invoice distribution will not allow the transaction to be completed until the invoice amount has been completely distributed and the Amount Left field displays an amount of zero.

General Ledger can locate an account by account # or description.  The details of the data can be displayed in the period totals screen. Periods can be clicked and particulars for any entry can be found.

Details from any account can be viewed for any entry from this General Ledger screen.
 

F4 – or the application inquiry button from the General Ledger can give a view of the transaction in the application that it originated from.
