A Review of

SYSPRO
By J. Carlton Collins, CPA

I am continuously amazed by how many people I talk to who seem to think that an entry-level product like Quickbooks should meet the needs of their sophisticated company such as a $20 million manufacturing operation. Sometimes I want to slap these people across the face with a wet mackerel. People please wake up. No product is targeted towards businesses of every size, nor is any product ideally suited for every industry. With this in mind, here is where I think SYSPRO fits best.

SYSPRO Best Fit

Size of Company

SYSPRO’s management indicated that while the company has customer sites with more than 1,000 active users, the product fits best and is targeted towards sites with 4 to 80 users. (They consider the “Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) market to consist of 8 to 50 users. Accordingly they feel that their product fits well both below and above the SME market). This solution is generally targeted towards companies with revenues between $5 million and $150 million. According to Stanley Goodrich of SYSPRO, the average number of users of SYSPRO is 24 users per company.  It runs on your choice of two client server databases,  Microsoft SQL Server or the C-ISAM proprietary database.

Industry Solutions

They claim to have more than 144,000 users (based on 6,000 companies with an average of 24 users each.) They have project and manufacturing capabilities which makes the solution a good fit for an engineer-to-order company.  Click here to learn more about manufacturing solutions
