SYSPRO Look & Feel

Likes - As you can see in the screen above, SYSPRO features nice tabbed dialog boxes with a row of Icons for quick access to user tools. The font is fine and the fields and field labels are mostly lined up in an eye-appealing manner. As shown in the first screen above, SYSPRO provides the current system data, user name, and active company name at the bottom of the screen (I have covered it up with the chart on the second screen - sorry). The company does a good job of organizing the data fields and the user interface is attractive and very readable. The charts are colorful and colors are even used to denote negative amounts. Shadow boxes and form field boxes are used nicely.

Dislikes - This product look and feel is pretty good, I don't see too many major problems. My biggest concern is that menu items and buttons do not have a keyboard shortcut command, which means that the user must use a mouse to navigate this product. The VCR buttons could be expanded to include fast forward and zoom to the end buttons. While the data fields are snapped to a grid, the data within the data fields is often centered, which means that your eye must sometimes dart back and forth to read the data. Compared to other products, SYSPRO does not have as many quick look up, zoom, or search buttons associated with each data field for instant drill ability. For example, Dynamics and Navision Attain have quick buttons located next to each data field for quick zoom up or zoom down functionality. It is possible for windows and dialog boxes to pop up and cover the help button, forcing the user to drag and drop the windows in order to gain access to help. It might be nice to include a help button on each window.
